The sale of Red Sandal may not yield as much as money as being expected by the State government. It is known that government has invited global tenders to sale 4165 tonnes of A,B and C grade Red Sandal. However the foreign companies who are immensely interested in this auction are not keen on the C grade red sandal. But out of the 4165 tonnes, 3988 tonnes are of C grade.
There are 469 tonnes of A grade and 166 tonnes of B grade red sandal that is attracting foreign companies. To ensure the sale of C grade Red Sandal, government is also thinking of a condition that A grade Red Sandal will be sold to only those who buy C grade Red Sandal. At the same time government officials are fearing if there might be any adverse effect on the auction due to this condition. Interested buyers can visit the warehouse till September 17th and see the logs. So far China and Singapore sellers have visited the warehouse more.
