New Turn in Tirumala Laddoo Case

A major development has taken place in the adulterated ghee usage in Tirumala laddoo case. SIT gave notices to ex TTD chairman YV Subba Reddy’s PA Appanna.

Along with Appanna, SIT officials are interrogating six other TTD employees in the case. The interrogation has been going on for two days.

It is known that 15 people were arrested for using adulterated ghee in Tirumala laddoos. The management members of the dairies that supplied ghee to TTD are among those arrested.

As a part of the investigation, CBI took four people into custody in February, 2025. The head of Tamil Nadu’s AR Dairy, two representatives of Uttarakhand’s Bhole Baba Dairy, one executive from Srikalahasti’s Vaishnavi Dairy are among the arrested.

It was found that animal fat or fish oil was used in the ghee that was used to making laddoos. This triggered a worldwide debate on the quality checks followed at the temple and left the devotees deeply anguished.

Presently, SIT is handling the case. Apart from the detained members, SIT is also focusing on those within the temple staff who must have cooperated with the adulterators.

Though the contractors did not have the required capacity, tenders were manipulated by the TTD staff, according to SIT. SIT has already questioned 11 people who are involved in procuring contents of the laddoo. They include TTD employees and suppliers.

SIT is looking to file cases against those who were directly or indirectly involved in the adulteration process.




The incident has led to demands of stringent procedures to oversee the making of Tirumala laddoo.
