YSRTP chief YS Sharmila has been going to and fro about her decisions regarding the Telangana elections. She wanted to go alone in the polls, the wanted to merge with Congress, and then again wanted to go alone.
And now, in the end, Sharmila has announced that her party is not contesting in the elections.
“If YSRTP eats into the vote bank of Congress, history won’t spare us. So, we have decided not to contest in the Telangana elections. Our support will be to the Congress party.” Sharmila stated.
This comes after Sharmila had recently announced she would be contesting all 119 constituencies in the state. Now, she has apologized to the people of Telangana for bringing false hopes with her party and backing out at the last moment.
Sharmila hoped to contest from the Palair constituency in the elections and there were reports that Vijayamma and Brother Anil could also be contesting in the polls. But in the end, Sharmila has announced that YSTRP is not contesting in the elections and announced her support to Congress.
Incidentally, Sharmila had even held an elongated Padayatra in Telangana but this has gone to waste now as she has backed out in the last minute.
