The Chandrababu government is developing dedicated industrial pockets across Andhra Pradesh. At present, the state is strengthening its position in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Hyderabad-based Virupaksha Organics Limited and Sigachi Industries Limited are expanding operations in Orvakal, Kurnool.
Orvakal is emerging rapidly as a pharma hub due to its close proximity to Hyderabad. The region is supported by growing industrial infrastructure. This advantage has attracted major pharmaceutical investments in recent months.
Virupaksha Organics Limited has been allotted 100 acres in the IP Guttapadu Cluster at the Orvakal node. The company plans to establish a manufacturing facility for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients and organic chemicals at the site.
Sigachi Industries Limited is a well-known manufacturer of pharmaceutical excipients. It specialises in microcrystalline cellulose, which is widely used in pharmaceuticals, food products, and nutraceuticals. The expansion further strengthens Orvakal’s industry profile.
The Virupaksha project involves an investment of Rs 1225 crore. It is expected to generate around 1500 direct jobs. Several indirect employment opportunities will also be created across logistics, utilities, and ancillary services.
Agreements with both companies were signed during the recently concluded CII Partnership Summit. These deals highlight growing industry confidence in Andhra Pradesh’s industrial policy and infrastructure development.
With strong support from APIIC and easy access to Hyderabad’s pharma ecosystem, Orvakal is witnessing rapid growth. The region is steadily shaping up as a key pharmaceutical manufacturing destination in south India.
