TDP Removes Varma: Good For Alliance, Bad For TDP?

Varma and TDP alliance controversy

Whenever there is a coalition government, that is always going to be scope for misunderstandings and mishaps. The larger picture here is the sustenance of the alliance by overhauling these systems.

The ongoing TDP+ alliance government in Andhra Pradesh is not different to this case either. There are obviously going to be certain episodes where there might be misunderstanding between the TDP, JSP and BJP troops.

To this effect we have the ongoing situation in Pithapuram, which has become a major problem. This is primarily due to the local brawls between local TDP leader and former MLA Varma and the Pendem Dorababu camp(previously with YCP and currently with JSP).

This situation reached the climax recently when Varma criticised the local janasena leaders when they ignored the protocol of placing CM Chandrababu’s photo in a government program. This infuriated him and he protested adequately.

But Chandrababu reprimanded him saying this is against the alliance spirit and this is now followed by disciplinary action. The TDP has announced that they are firing Varma from the position of Pithapuram TDP in-charge.

This might be good on the collective spirit of the alliance to make sure Varma doesn’t clash with Janasena in the future. But when it comes to the internal TDP affairs, this can be largely consequential.

Varma fought for equal treatment for TDP and carried the party spirit with all his heart. But in the end, he was the one to face the wrath. This could potentially disintegrate the cadre from the party too brass and doesn’t put out the right message.
