Polavaram works are finally back on track. After fixing the glitches following the alliance government coming to power, 6.11% works have been taken up in nine months.

During Jagan’s term, only 11.58% works were done in 5 years. It is an achievement of sorts to complete more than half the works within 9 months. In the main dam, 3.80% land procurement was done and 2.56% rehabilitation was done.

Glitches were fixed once the alliance government came to power, one after the other. A committee of foreign experts was constituted by union Jal Shakti and Jal Sangham. National and international experts visited the project.

They brainstormed and gave their suggestions. As a part of this, work on the new diaphragm wall got started in January 2025. As a part of it, a wall of 1396 meters has to be constructed. So far, 158.20 meters has been constructed. By increasing the machinery, the works need to be taken up at a quicker pace.

The idea is to complete works on diaphragm wall by December 2025. Other works are also on, some of which will be completed by 2026 March and some by 2026 June.




The entire Polavaram project will be completed by 2027.
