The Lok Sabha elections are currently underway in Telangana. Every time, we experience a low voter turnout in the Hyderabad region.
Generally, urban voters don’t show interest in voting during elections. A similar trend is seen in Hyderabad this time as well.
There are four Parliamentary segments in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) region – Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Malkajgiri and Chevella. The voting turnout has been low in all four constituencies.
As of 11 AM, Hyderabad recorded a voting percentage of 10.70%, the lowest among all constituencies of Telangana.
India’s largest Lok Sabha constituency by population, Malkajgiri, recorded a voting percentage of just 15.05%. The voter turnout in Secunderabad and Chevella is around 15.77% and 20.35% respectively.
Going by the trend, Hyderabad may register the lowest voting percentage this time as well. Meanwhile, Zahirabad registered the highest voting percentage (31.83%) by 11 am.
Adilabad (31.51%), Khammam (31.56%), Mahbubabad (30.70%) and Nalgonda (31.21%) showed a good trend of voting turnout by 11 am.
