Union Civil Aviation Minister, Ashok Gajapathi Raju confirmed that it would not be possible to give approval to the TS government plans to build the police command control twin towers in Banjara Hills at a height above the permissible limit. The proposed height of the twin towers would not only pose a security threat to Begumpet airport but also to flights operating from there.

Since the airport is being used by VIPs now, the center had decided not to allow Telangana government’s twin police towers for their safety. Telangana government is disappointed with that and are considering two options. They are thinking on the lines of relocating the entire project if possible.
If not, they are planning to go for the re-designing of the proposed towers reducing the height. As per the plan now, the proposed towers are only third on the Earth after Singapore and Newyork. According to the initial DPR, First Tower will have 24 floors while the second will have 17 floors. These buildings are expected to be of 135 meters height.
