There is no bigger satisfaction for the politicians than beating their enemies in their own constituencies. Right now, the CM has declared that the Congress must win Siddipet in the next elections.
Siddipet is the constituency of BRS leader and ex minister Harish Rao. It’s a stronghold of Harish Rao. With KCR mellowed down due to health problems, it is Harish Rao who counters the Congress on various issues. BRS working president KTR is there. But his soft approach as compared to the detailed attack of Harish Rao hurts Congress.
Also, Harish Rao is more of a grassroots level leader with good credibility and knowledge of hyper local problems. Winning over Harish Rao would be a catch prize for the Congress.
CM Revanth Reddy eyeing Harish Rao’s constituency shows that he is aiming at weakening BRS to remain in power for the next term. Revanth Reddy started an oilpalm factory at Siddipet and laid foundation for oil palm refinery. He also released Rs 3590 crore under rythu bharosa from Siddipet in the first phase.
The CM’s comments show how important it is for the ruling party to win Harish Rao’s bastion. By bringing industry to Siddipet, Revanth Reddy is clear about the path ahead.
