Sensational revelations are emerging in the investigation of the phone tapping case, particularly involving the Special Intelligence Branch (SIB). Former DSP Praneet Rao has reportedly confessed during the investigation that he tapped the phones of leaders and celebrities under the orders of his superiors.
It appears that during the assembly elections, the phones of TPCC president and current CM Revanth Reddy were targeted for tapping. Praneet tapped the phones to gather information about Revanth’s movements, his team, and details about how money was being managed for the Congress during the elections.
Evidence suggests that the phones of Revanth and his close associates were tapped months before the elections. Praneet, allegedly following orders from the ruling party at the time, coordinated with politicians, police personnel, and private individuals to carry out the tapping operation.
Hundreds of phones were reportedly tapped within days based on information and phone numbers obtained from various sources. Investigators examining the case have looked into WhatsApp chats on Praneet’s phone, including messages from BRS leaders and private individuals.
During initial interrogation, Praneet revealed that he and his team worked under the orders of the then-chief of SIB. Police are preparing to take Praneet into custody for further interrogation.
The current CM has been briefed on the investigative procedures and has assured that action will be taken against those found to have violated the law. It is anticipated that former high-ranking officials of SIB involved in the alleged conspiracy with Praneet will also be interrogated.
Notices have been issued to individuals involved in the tapping operation, particularly those who worked before the elections. Investigations have revealed that some officials set up special rooms (war rooms) in their houses to carry out the tapping.
