Electronic media journalists were arrested following a violent incident in Krishna district’s Pamarru, which created tension in the area. The incident occurred after journalists allegedly assaulted local residents and misbehaved with police personnel who arrived to control the situation.
At a liquor shop in Challapalli, Pamarru, two journalists arrived with a group of youth and reportedly created trouble after consuming alcohol. Journalists Kittu and Sandeep, along with two others, argued with locals, pelted stones at the shop, and used unparliamentary language.
A local Jana Sena leader questioned their behaviour, which escalated the situation further. The journalists allegedly attacked the leader’s driver Srikant with stones and sticks. Srikant sustained serious injuries, and the incident caused fear among residents after threats were shouted.
Following the attack, Srikant’s family members filed a complaint against Sakshi and CVR journalists. When police reached the spot, the journalists reportedly misbehaved with them, prompting authorities to deploy heavy bandobast to prevent further clashes.
Based on Srikant’s complaint, cases were registered against Kittu and Sandeep under BNS 353 and 324. Police also identified the other two youths as belonging to a ganja batch from Vijayawada.
