The kids in Hyderabad are succumbing to a new fever variant named “Scarlet Fever.” There has been a huge rise in the number of Scarlet fever cases in Hyderabad over the last few days.
According to the reports, 12 out of 20 children suffering from fever, have Scarlet fever. It usually occurs in children aged between 5-15 years.
It was reported that parents who are constantly in contact with their children are also prone to this fever. Most of the children’s fever cases in government hospitals these days are identified as Scarlet fever cases.
Streptococcus bacteria cause scarlet fever. It primarily affects children. The symptoms of this fever are sore throat, temperature of more than 101 degrees, nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, headache, body ache, pink and red rashes and skin infection.
The infection spreads through physical contact and respiratory droplets. It can also spread if the food or drinks are shared with the infected individual.
Scarlet fever also causes various health complications for children in the future. Thus, doctors are advising people to take necessary precautions.
Covering the mouth with a mask or a cloth while coughing or sneezing, regularly washing hands using hand sanitiser or hand wash and maintaining good hygiene are needed to stay safe from the Scarlet fever.
