A photojournalist endured a vicious assault by a YSRCP worker during the Siddam rally led by party chief and CM YS Jagan in Anantapur on February 18. Just three days later, the Eenadu office in Kurnool faced a similar attack today.
The reprehensible attack on Andhra Jyothy’s photojournalist, Srikrishna, in Raptadu, Anantapur, drew widespread condemnation, sparking a wave of protests by journalists across Andhra Pradesh.
YS Sharmila, President of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee, voiced strong criticism of the deteriorating law and order under the YS Jagan Government.
She took to her Twitter/X account and condemned the deteriorating law and order situation in Andhra Pradesh under the leadership of YS Jagan.
In a social media post, she denounced the recent brutal attacks by YSRCP gangs on Andhra Jyothi journalist Sri Krishna and the newspaper office in Kurnool, labeling them as inhumane and deliberate.
Sharmila emphasized that these attacks represent a grave infringement on press freedom, indicating a troubling trend of suppressing facts and resorting to violence against dissent.
She criticized the YSRCP for its inability to tolerate criticism and its routine attacks on journalists and media establishments.
She called the attack on press representatives like an attack on democracy and demanded an apology from the state government to the injured journalist, Mr. Krishna, and urged for the swift identification and punishment of the perpetrators.
Additionally, she called for the government to cover Mr. Krishna’s medical expenses and provide support to his family in this difficult time.
