There is a talk in the political circles that KCR played a crucial role in Jagan’s victory in AP in 2019. It was rumored that BRS stressed several other-party MLAs in a bid to help YCP MLA candidates in the last election. The harmony would have continued in government capacity in 2023 had BRS won but it didn’t happen as Revanth Reddy led Congress to a resounding win.
Now that Revanth Reddy is the CM of Telangana and considering his affiliation with TDP, if he decides to help TDP in the coming elections, then YCP will be in a spot of bother.
Moreover, YS Sharmila who recently took charge as AP Congress president has revived the party in AP. Incidentally, she met Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad and had a chitchat with him. This comes in the midst of the coming AP election and both of them had already revealed their intention to work together for Congress in AP.
There isn’t much to do for Sharmila and Revanth(as Telangana CM) in AP. Congress got a 2.8% vote share in AP in 2014 and if it can go up to just about 5%, then it will mean that it is game over for YCP. This isn’t too big of a deal as the YCP vote bank is that of Congress’s conventionally.
If the voters disappointed with Jagan pick Congress, the vote share of YCP will take a beating. This will greatly help the TDP and JSP(possibly along with BJP) alliance. Sharmila looks determined to work the trick for Congress and her meeting with Revanth instated the same. This has created great tension in the YCP camp now.
