The arrest of an iTDP activist in the case of abusing YS Bharathi has evoked mixed reactions.
When the person spoke ill about YS Bharathi, the TDP High Command did not waste any time and immediately suspended him from the party. The party high command also directed the Police to file a case and get him arrested in hours.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said his Government would not spare anybody when it comes to insulting women irrespective of parties. And the message is sent by not sparing their own activist.
Also, a message has been sent to the People that TDP and YSR Congress are different, and the party leadership would not spare anyone like how Jagan does.
Meanwhile, the party cadre had a different opinion on this arrest.
They are questioning why the leaders and YSR Congress Social Media activists who badmouthed Nara Bhuvaneshwari have not been arrested yet, and why this enthusiasm in arresting a poor activist.
They are not mincing words that the Government is using an ordinary activist to do Political Posturing.
“Who is this guy? Did he ever meet Jagan or Bharathi? Did he have any rivalry with them? Why would he abuse Bharathi or anyone for their matter? He worked for the party and earned enemies. How is it fair to get him arrested for Political Mileage?” they are questioning.
“People like him have fought for the party for the last five years. They were vocal for the party even when many leaders feared talking against Jagan. He may have made a mistake. But how fair it is to ignore his services to the party?” they are asking.
The party supporters are heartbroken that he was paraded before the media by covering his face with a cover.
The Police arrested him in an urgency by tracing his mobile signals when many YSR Congress leaders are still not arrested with pending cases over several months.
Photos of the activist’s ailing parents and their economic status are going viral on social media. Some supporters are even pooling money to help his family.
This situation definitely looks like a ‘Catch 22’.
There is no doubt that the language the activist used should be condemned.
Chandrababu Naidu definitely sent a positive message by this arrest. At the same time, the anguish of the cadre is acceptable too.
On one side, YSR Congress has given legal support to its cadre when they were arrested for abuse of the judiciary. Every social media activist, despite having a very ugly side, are being given legal support.
The arrest maybe right in administration point of view but TDP will definitely have a moral obligation towards its supporters.
There are many things politicians do ethically and morally wrong these days. Such leaders are often pardoned and admitted back into the parties for the ‘greater good’. The yardstick can not be different for ordinary supporters.
If not arrested, the issue may be used against the Party.
