Elections are one and a half years away but the election mood is already here. The battle lines are already drawn and the parties are looking to strengthen their media and social media resources to prepare themselves.
The Opposition TDP is looking to capitalize on the growing anti-incumbency on the Government but the challenge is to face the Ruling Party’s well-oiled back office machinery headed by Prashant Kishor’s team.
The social media strategy of TDP is still largely dependent on the party’s supporters and is mostly unorganized. They were, however, still effective. But the real big problem is in the YouTube space.
A popular web channel has worked hand in glove with YSR Congress before 2019 and TDP has walked straight into the trap. The owner of the web channel is in one of the highest paid nominated post in Andhra Pradesh Government.
As a replacement for that channel, another channel has come and is filling up the YouTube space with complete anti-TDP Propaganda. They are mostly concentrating on YouTube Shorts which have more reach.
With the advent of Jio, the penetration of YouTube to the grassroots is unimaginable. TDP is completely clueless in this space and is complacent on the impact. That can prove to be very dangerous in days to come.
