
As political parties prepare to showcase their strength in the upcoming local body elections, returning officers have issued notifications for the ZPTC and MPTC polls.
In the first phase, nominations will be accepted till October 11. The elections will be held in two phases across 31 districts of the state. The first phase covers 58 revenue divisions, 292 ZPTC, and 2,963 MPTC divisions.
Candidates must pay a nominal deposit to file nominations. ZPTC general candidates need to pay ₹5,000, while reserved category candidates must pay ₹2,500. For MPTC, the general deposit is ₹2,500, and for reserved candidates, it’s ₹1,250.
Polling will take place on October 23, and the counting of votes will be held on November 11. Major parties in Telangana BRS, TBJP, and Telangana Congress are treating these local polls as a matter of prestige and are planning their strategies carefully.
These local body elections are being viewed as a crucial test ahead of the 2028 Assembly polls.
