Record Rain in September may have filled the dams but then they seem to have provided no relief for Telangana farmers who are battered by three successive years of drought. It is emerging that as many as 134 farmers committed suicides in August and September which is about 2 deaths per day revealing the plight of farmers.

In the last two years and four months, the newest state of the country recorded about 2500 farmer suicide deaths. A Majority of these deaths were from Medak district which houses the constituency of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Ironically, the district is just a two-hour drive from the IT hub of Hyderabad, which is the cash cow of the state.
The victim families allege that the government in order to downsize the deaths ignoring the number of suicides and in the procession is also denying any compensation and assistance to the bereaved families. But then farmers who withstood all the difficulties are hoping of a different time this season like every year they do.
