The joint Chittoor district is eagerly awaiting the release of the Telugu Desam Party’s candidate list today. Candidates for nine positions have been announced in the first list within these two districts. There is speculation that Tirupati may be allotted to one of the allied parties, Janasena or BJP.
The suspense surrounding the candidates for the remaining seven seats may be resolved today. Punganur, Madanapalle, Puthalapattu, Chandragiri, Satyavedu, Srikalahasti, Venkatagiri, and seven other assembly constituencies in Tirupati and combined Chittoor districts are pending.
In the second list set to be released on Thursday, it remains uncertain whether candidates will be announced for all these positions or if some will be kept pending. Although Pulivarthi Nani in Chandragiri, Bojjala Sudhir Reddy in Srikalahasti, Murali Mohan in Puthalapattu, and Challa Ramachandra Reddy in Punganur have not been officially announced, their tickets were reportedly finalized earlier.
There is particular attention on Satyavedu and Madanapalle constituencies due to special circumstances. In Satyavedu, the sitting MLA Koneti Adimoolam left YSRCP and joined TDP, and while the TDP ticket has been reportedly finalized for him, there are other hopeful leaders whose interests need to be considered.
It is reported that Satyavedu’s name may not be included in the list to be released on Thursday, as the administration intends to adjust all factors within the constituency before announcing the official candidate.
In Madanapalle, there are numerous aspirants for the TDP ticket. Former MLA Shahjahan Basha, who joined TDP from Congress during Nara Lokesh’s Yuvagalam Padayatra, is said to have been finalized for the ticket.
Shahjahan Basha holds significant influence among the minority communities in Madanapalle and is regarded as a leader who protected waqf properties and enhanced the income of the waqf board, garnering support from a large percentage of Muslims. This has inclined the party leadership towards him for the candidacy in Madanapalle.
