In a heartbreaking incident, five young individuals drowned in the Konda Pochamma Sagar reservoir in Siddipet district, Telangana, on Saturday.
The victims, all residents of Musheerabad, Hyderabad, were identified as Dhanush (20), Lohith (17), Ch. Dineswar (17), Jatin (17), and Sahil (17).

Two others, Komari Mrigank (17) and Md. Ibrahim (17), managed to survive.
The group of seven youths had traveled to the reservoir after visiting the Konda Pochamma temple.

While five of them ventured into the water, the other two stayed back, reportedly clicking photographs. Tragically, those in the water slipped into a deeper section and drowned.
The reservoir, restricted to outsiders, was accessed by the group through an alternative route.

Authorities are conducting search operations to recover the bodies, and expert divers have been deployed under instructions from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
The Chief Minister expressed deep sorrow over the incident and urged officials to stay on-site and monitor rescue efforts.
Meanwhile, BRS MLA T. Harish Rao offered his condolences and demanded the government provide ₹15 lakh ex-gratia to the victims’ families.
