Tragic, But Explains Why TDP Has A Strong Cadre Base

TDP Formation Day

On Friday, the Telugu Desam Party announced a list of 47 Market Committee Chairmen. Ruttula Seshu Kumar was announced as the Narsipatnam Market Committee Chairman.

But the tragedy is that Seshu Kumar has been undergoing treatment for a liver-related illness at a private hospital in Visakhapatnam for the past few days and passed away on the same day.

He was a loyal TDP leader for the past twenty-five years, but passed away even before he heard the news of the nominated post.

But there is one good part about the Telugu Desam Party in this entire episode.

Whenever a party comes to power after suffering a lot in the Opposition, we can just imagine the kind of Pressure on the leadership in giving away the nominated posts.

Obviously, there will be a lot of lobbying and even under-the-table dealings right from the local MLA to the Top leadership for getting one. It should have been even more for a key constituency like Narsipatnam.

So, Seshu Kumar’s choice is surprising.

He has been in the hospital for a long time, and obviously, neither he nor his family members would have lobbied.

Yet Seshu Kumar got it without any effort.

It is quite common that there would have been a lot of pressure on the local MLA Speaker Ayyannapathrudu and the TDP Top Leadership.

However, a leader who has been with the party for 25 years was an automatic choice without other consideration.

Since he is critical, the party would have easily picked another one, but they did not.

That indicates the nominated posts were picked without any pressure or influence.

Probably, that is why TDP has a very strong cadre base and loyalty that helped the party tide over many crises.

The mortal remains of Seshu Kumar were brought to his native, Makavarapalem, on Saturday morning.

Speaker Ayyannapatrudu, who had come to Narsipatnam area, was supposed to leave for Vijayawada on Saturday to participate in official functions. After hearing the news of Seshu kumar’s death, he postponed his trip and went to Makavarapalem along with his family members and participated in Seshukumar’s funeral.
