Over the last couple of months, Telangana government is putting up ‘This property belongs to Telangana Government’ boards across several lands taken by the government under Land Ceiling act. The act restricts any individual from having more than 1500 sqmts of land in Hyderabad city and the excess lands will be taken back by the government. But over the years, the individuals have silently sold the excess land to third parties, who in turn made fake layouts and sold it to individual buyers in the form of plots.
There are several poor and middle class people who built houses and are residing it. The government off late is verifying the records and putting up the boards in such places. In Shaikpet Mandal alone there are 100s of houses like that but government is not going to leave them at any cost. Even if the government allows to regularize these constructions, they will have to shell out huge amounts which will in turn bring big revenue for the government.
