There seems to be no respite for Telangana government from the power problems. The rains have set in and the farmers are gearing up for the Khariff season but only to be greeted by the power problems of the state. It is said that the state could not even 1-2 hours of power to agricultural use and they are giving power during mid-nights when the demand decreases. As a result the farmers are spending sleepless nights.
This morning farmers of Narsingi, Medak district came on roads protesting the improper power supply. They held a rastaroko making slogans against the government on the highway of Hyderabad and Nizamabad. Traffic got stranded for several kilometers. Police resorted lathi charge on the agitating farmers to dispel them. Farmers pelt stone on the Police vehicles and RTC buses.
Similar protests are seen in several parts of the state. This issue came as a breather to the opposition parties in the state. All the opposition parties have decided to aide the agitating farmers and aim potshots on the government. On the other side, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao ordered Police to show patience in dealing such sensitive issues. He reportedly asked officials to increase power cuts to industries and try to provide 6 hours to agriculture.
