It looks Ravi Shastri may retain his position as the Head Coach of Team India. A day before the window for the applications for India’s coaching staff closes, captain Virat Kohli has endorsed Ravi Shastri for continuing as the head coach. Saying that Ravi Bhai shares a great camaraderie with the team, Kohli said he will be very happy if Ravi Shastri is given an extension.
However, he is quick to add that the CAC that is appointed to finalize the new coach did not seek his opinion yet. Shastri and the rest of the existing coaching staff comprising Sanjay Bangar (assistant coach), Bharat Arun (bowling coach) and R Sridhar (fielding coach) would get automatic entries during the recruitment process but will be interviewed if shortlisted.
On the other side, Former Srilankan Cricketer Mahela Jayawardane has also applied to the position. Former South African batsman Jonty Rhodes who is regarded as one of the best fielders ever taken the ground in International Cricket has applied or the India team’s fielding coach’s position.
