A weekend joyride took a tragic turn for a group of college students in Keesara, resulting in a fatal accident during the early hours of Saturday. Two young lives were lost, with M. Tushara (19) from Alwal and Bhuvesh Rao (19) from Karkhana succumbing to the crash.
The group, consisting of Rueben (19), Philip John (20), and Indrakanti Haripriya (19), all BBA students from a private college in Shamirpet, embarked on their joyride after nightfall, accompanied by alcohol.
They set out from Bolarum around 11.40 p.m. and ventured to Shamirpet and Keesara for the night. Tragedy struck around 4.30 a.m. as Philip, the driver, lost control of the car on a curved road near a convention hall in Keesara, colliding with a tree.
Despite Philip being sober, two lives were lost in the accident, while the other three survivors were found to be under the influence of alcohol.
The Keesara police have initiated legal action under Section 304-A (death by negligence) and 337 (causing hurt due to rash driving) of the IPC and have launched an investigation. The surviving students received prompt medical attention from the authorities.
