Who Will Contest From Kakinada On Mudragada?

Mudragada PadmanabhamMudragada Padmanabham, a former minister and Kapu community leader, may join the YSRCP and potentially contest for the Kakinada Parliament seat as a YSRCP nominee. However, it is also mentioned that if Mudragada is not interested in contesting, the YSRCP might offer the ticket to his son.

The involvement of Mudragada in politics again, following the dismissal of the Ratnachal train burning case, is highlighted. In the past, Mudragada contested as an independent candidate in the 2014 elections and lost deposits. It shows his popularity seems to be downtrend in East Godavari politics.

It is mentioned that the YSRCP’s strategy to involve Mudragada is aimed at preventing a possible alliance between the TDP and Jana Sena, as such an alliance could have a significant impact on the Godavari districts. The competition for the Kakinada Parliament seat is seen as an important question, especially considering that the TDP won the seat in 2014 but lost in the 2019 general elections.

In terms of community representation, it is noted that the Fisherman and Kapu communities have a similar percentage of voters in the segment. If the YSRCP fields a Kapu candidate, it is suggested that the TDP or Jana Sena might field a candidate from the BC category.

Even though the Jagan government canceled the 5% reservation given to the Kapus, Mudragada did not speak a single word against Jagan that caused many suspicions among the Kapu people. It is doubtful that people would support Mudragada even if he contests under such conditions.
