High Court denies bail to YS Vivekananda Reddy murder accused

Everyone was surprised when the Kadapa district court ordered opposition leaders not to discuss YS Vivekananda Reddy’s murder. YSRCP, which gained political advantage in the 2019 elections with YS Viveka’s murder, is now trying to prevent TDP from benefiting in the 2024 elections.

Viveka’s daughter, Narreddy Sunitha, and TDP candidate for Pulivendula Assembly Constituency, Ravindranath Reddy (known as B.Tech Ravi), have challenged the orders given by the Kadapa District Court in the AP High Court.

These orders prohibit any comments against YSRCP President/CM Jaganmohan Reddy and the party leaders regarding the murder of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy, and also prohibit discussion of any pending cases in court during the election campaign.

Ravi stated that the orders issued by the court were illegal and that the temporary interim order was passed unilaterally without hearing the arguments of the defendants, violating the principles of natural justice. While recourse to the EC is available as an alternative remedy, filing a claim directly in court is not valid.

The Kadapa court’s order to suppress freedom of speech contradicts judgments given by the Supreme Court. The lawyers requested an urgent hearing on these lawsuits, which are scheduled for today.
