World Bank Makes Life Easy for Jagan?

World Bank Makes Life Easy for Jagan? In a major development, the World Bank has ‘dropped’ the $700-million Andhra Pradesh Amaravati Sustainable Infrastructure and Institutional Development Project that seeks to develop the greenfield capital of Andhra Pradesh. The World Bank has committed $300 million out of the total project cost of $700 million.

Earlier some farmers at the behest of YSR Congress in the Opposition wrote emails to the Bank saying that the Project is threatening the livelihood of people and the fragile environment. The then government tried to reason for such emails but with the change in the government, the World Bank is no longer interested.

Since the day Jagan came to Power, he has indicated that Amaravati is not his choice for the Capital. The Chief Minister also believes that it will give Chandrababu unnecessary mileage and so there are rumours that he is contemplating a change in the Capital. Now this will make life easy.

YSR Congress will now claim how Amaravati has become unviable due to Chandrababu and make the then government as the reason for the loan denial. Down the lane, with no loans and Central Government’s assistance, Jagan Government may announce shifting the Capital to another location with the possibility of getting loans. So this decision of the World Bank augurs well with the Ruling Party.
