Jagan-Sharmila Feud: Wedding Venue Changed

YS Sharmila has decided to shift her daughter Anjili’s wedding from the Yelahanka house in Bengaluru following objections from her brother YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. A family wedding that should have been a happy occasion has instead become another talking point in the ongoing dispute between the siblings.

Sharmila says the Yelahanka property was allotted entirely to her and her children during the family property division after Jagan became Chief Minister. The house also has emotional value for her because their father, YS Rajasekhara Reddy, spent time there. Her daughter Anjili reportedly wanted to get married in the same house where she grew up.

However, Jagan reportedly objected to the wedding taking place there. Sharmila has now announced that the ceremony will be held at another venue. She expressed disappointment over not being able to fulfil her daughter’s wish and said the family did not want unnecessary arguments to affect the wedding.

But one question naturally arises. Why was this decision not sorted out before printing the wedding invitations? If there were already differences over the property and objections from Jagan, wouldn’t it have been better to settle the matter first rather than announce the venue and change it later?

Sharmila may have every emotional reason to want her daughter married in that house. If she believes the property legally belongs to her and her children, she has the option of approaching the court and seeking a proper settlement. That would be a more practical way to resolve the dispute.

A daughter’s wedding should not become another battleground for family disagreements. The venue may have changed, but the larger property dispute remains unresolved. Both sides need to put an end to this public blame game and settle the property dispute legally once and for all.
