Jagan Mohan Reddy is easily one of the youngest Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh. When he was elected with a bumper majority, everyone expected him to be progressive and with a mindset of infrastructure and job creation.
But what happened is completely opposite. Jagan’s mindset is so medieval, focusing only on freebies and vote bank politics with zero emphasis on investments and jobs.
Thankfully, Jagan even drove away some of the companies that came to Andhra Pradesh during Chandrababu Naidu’s regime.
Now that elections are just six months away, Jagan is desperate for some credit on investments and jobs.
Infosys came to Jagan’s rescue at this juncture.
Infosys is setting up offices in tier 2 cities to move closer to talent. This is to decongest their offices in main cities and also to bring the costs down.
Accordingly, Tier-2 cities like Coimbatore, Noida and Vizag were selected. This is more of an operational decision and has nothing to do with the Governments of Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, or Andhra Pradesh.
But then, Jagan jumped up to take the credit and is doing so much of Hungama in the name of inaugurating the office.
Since the Chief Minister himself volunteered to inaugurate the office, Infosys can not have any complaints.
But then, this is to create an impression that Jagan did something to attract Infosys to set up shop in Vishakapatnam but the actual facts are different.
YSR Congress government even tried to take the credit of Kia using YSR who passed away several years before the investment and this Infosys thing is not a surprise.
