Ashish - Rowdy Boys ReviewWhat Is the Film About?
Akshay (Ashish) is an Engineering student from LIT College, whereas Kavya (Anupama Parameshwaran) is a medico from the BMC medical college. How do the two fall in love?

The movie’s basic plot is the war between the colleges over her and where it ends. It is presented in a musical style with lots of songs and dance.

Ashish, the nephew of Dil Raju, makes his debut with Rowdy Boys. He suits the part as the boy next door and looks good on screen. He has also clearly put in efforts to make it work. It is in the dances that he impresses big in the first outing. If the same action is put in other aspects and further grooming personality-wise, Ashish can shine in his career ahead.

Director - Sree Harsha KonugantiAnalysis
Harsha Konuganti of Husharu fame directs Rowdy Boys. His first film, too, belonged to the same space but was made on a moderate scale. Here he has big backing and a much bigger canvas.

The opening sequence of the two college gangs going against each other sets the impression of Rowdy Boys being a ‘Baahubali’ among college-based stories. However, that impression ends as we progress to the more routine proceedings.

The entire first half can be condensed into one singular plot development that leads to the interval. There is nothing much happening besides the students from two rival colleges going at each other. And when it happens seriously, we get to the interval.

In between, we have the typical world-building scenes involving the hero’s family and friends. It is here that Rowdy Boys fails. The writing and the way it’s delivered make the whole thing bland. It is here that Harsha Konuganti’s debut Husharu succeeded. It had humour working for it even though story-wise, it too had nothing fresh to offer.

The second half takes a more dramatic turn with a new angle thrown between the lead pair. Even this segment will remind many of some recent past movies. It wouldn’t still have mattered had there been good writing and actors to lift things up.

The good thing, though, is compared to the first half; the second hour looks decent, even if it is courtesy of predictable drama on offer. Well, as the saying goes, something is better than nothing?

The climax goes further north in the predictable territory with some not so unexpected twists. One can see them coming miles away.

Overall, Rowdy Boys comes with a nice idea to have a youthful musical college-based drama. The problem is the bland execution. It makes for dull and tiring viewing.

Anupama Parameswaran - Rowdy Boys Others?
Anupama Parameshwaran playing the lead looks a lot lean. She suits the part and easily stands out among the crowd as a performer. They are typical emotions seen in romantic dramas, and she did it well. It is another thing, though, that she hasn’t got much to do in the first place.

Vikram is miscast. He lacks the intensity for the part. But, more than the act, the look comes into play first, as he looks way too young and weak for the role. Karthik Ratnam is okay playing a senior. It is inconsistently written and hence lacks the impact. Srikanth Iyenger is alright as the father. Tej Kurapati and Komalee Prasad are decent, at best. The rest of the cast comprises newcomers and aren’t that impressive.

Music Director DSP -devi sri prasadMusic and Other Departments?
Devi Sri Prasad has the most critical job on hand for Rowdy Boys. It is because the movie is planned as a youthful musical. He has done his bit by delivering a decent song, and the background that is good, but in parts. Three cinematographers, Madhie, Vijay Chakravarthi and Guhan, handle the work due to delays. However, the visuals flow seamlessly and look grand. The editing by Madhu is okay. Some portions needed to be trimmed for a crispier narrative. The writing is primarily bland, barring a couple of punches here and there.

The hero’s change in character and attitude in the second hour could have been avoided. Or else, he should have been portrayed that way from the start. Either of these would make for a big difference.

Rowdy Boys Review, U.S. Premier updates will begin shortly. Stay tuned.

Rowdy Boys is the new production of Sri Venkateshwara Creations. It introduces Ashish, nephew of Dil Raju, as the hero. Anupama Parameswaran is the female lead opposite him. The college campus drama hits the big screens on January 14th, 2022.

Dil Raju has been fascinated with youthful college-based dramas and teen romances from the start. Not only does he make them periodically on his production, but he has backed many such films as a distributor. It is because when such films strike a chord with the target audience, they have a tremendous run at the box office.

Rowdy Boys is an attempt on the lines of Prema Desam and Happy Days from Dil Raju. It has Sree Harsha Konuganti as the director. He is the person behind the small surprise success of Husharu that came back in 2018.

Rowdy Boys has been postponed many times, and it is finally hitting the cinemas on January 14th. No one could have asked for a better time than this. If the movie clicks with the audience, it could have a long extended run in the coming weeks irrespective of the occupancy.

Besides the production house, Devi Sri Prasad is another big name attached to the movie. His songs and background score will play a critical role in the movie’s success.
