Another leakage hits ‘Kaleshwaram’

A second leakage was reported in the construction of the Kaleshwaram project, specifically at the Annaram Saraswati Barrage in Mahadevpur mandal of Jayashankar Bhupalpally district. Water leakage was observed at gates 28 and 38. Previously, on October 21, there was a report of a barrage sinking in the Medigadda (Lakshmi Barrage).

A committee from the National Dam Safety Authority is investigating these incidents. Villagers were observed throwing stones at sandbags near the pillar. The irrigation officials released water downstream and used sandbags to address the leakage issue.

The Annaram Saraswati Barrage was constructed for the Kaleshwaram Upliftment Scheme for water storage.
