Regardless of the occasion, the people of Telangana tend to celebrate by indulging in alcohol consumption, resulting in consistently high alcohol sales in the state. This trend continued during the recent New Year celebrations.
On December 31st alone, 1.3 lakh cases of liquor and 1.35 lakh cases of beer were sold across 19 government depots, generating a revenue of Rs. 125 crores for the government.

Wine shops witnessed long queues from the afternoon of December 31st. Over the course of December 29th, 30th, and 31st, Telangana saw record-breaking alcohol sales amounting to Rs. 658 crores. Throughout these three days, a total of 4.76 lakh cases of liquor and 6.31 lakh cases of beer were sold across the state.
