Ahmedabad’s Navratri celebrations are known for late nights, hours of energetic Garba and elaborate outfits, but this year, some Gen Z revellers are turning to an unusual wellness trend to keep up with the festive frenzy. IV drip therapy has emerged as a growing craze among young people looking to stay hydrated, fight fatigue and maintain a fresh, glowing appearance throughout the festival.
The treatment involves administering fluids, vitamins, minerals or other nutrients directly into the bloodstream through an intravenous line. Depending on the formulation, wellness and aesthetic clinics may offer drips containing multivitamins, vitamin C, B vitamins, zinc, magnesium and glutathione.
According to reports, the trend is not limited to women, with a growing number of young men also opting for the treatment ahead of Garba nights. Some Ahmedabad clinics are reportedly seeing 10 to 15 people a day for such treatments and have been booked around Navratri. The cost varies depending on the formulation and clinic, with individual sessions reportedly ranging from Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 10,000.
Dermatologists, however, have stressed that IV therapy should not be treated as a routine beauty fix. One of them said the drip should be customised after a proper medical assessment and administered under specialist supervision. Another also cautioned that IV fluids may be appropriate for dehydration when medically required. Cosmetic drips like glutathione IVs are not universally beneficial.
The trend arrives as Ahmedabad’s Garba scene becomes increasingly premium, with some events offering VVIP seating, valet parking, personal photographers and butler services.
