Indian weddings now look like grand shows of wealth, where rituals take a backseat and trends run the event. A recent example went viral after guests were seen using an IV drip bar to deal with hangovers. The video showed people sitting in a tent and receiving IV fluids from a doctor.
The clip sparked strong reactions online. Many questioned why people drink so heavily at weddings that they need medical drips to recover. They say this culture pushes tradition aside and turns weddings into displays of money, open bars, and attention-seeking behaviour.
Users argue that such trends ignore the meaning of a wedding and turn it into a party centred on alcohol. They add that this should be treated as a serious concern, not a fashionable idea. The focus shifts from rituals to reckless indulgence.
Healthcare experts also warn that unsafe needle use or an unknown infection can turn a wedding into a medical disaster. They recalled a Bandra case where women held an IV drip party, and several later tested positive for Hepatitis B. A similar mistake at a wedding could put many lives at risk.
Making IV drips a wedding trend is more than an expensive stunt. It creates real health dangers while encouraging people to show off wealth in risky ways. The viral clip has now started a larger conversation on how far wedding culture has drifted.
