A disturbing case from Anekal in Bengaluru has raised serious concerns about the abuse of professional authority in the medical field. A woman who visited a scanning center for severe stomach pain was allegedly sexually harassed by the radiologist Jayakumar.
Reports state that he first touched her hand inappropriately and later touched her private parts while pretending to conduct the scan. When she protested, he allegedly abused her, threatened her, and even warned that he would kill her if she spoke about the incident.
Showing immense courage, the woman recorded the act on her phone and gathered proof of the assault. She then filed a complaint at Anekal Police Station, where an FIR was registered. Despite the evidence, the accused was questioned and released, which has angered the public.
The woman is now receiving treatment at Rajiv Gandhi Hospital in Bengaluru. The incident shows how vulnerable patients can be, even in trusted medical spaces. It also highlights the need for strict accountability and faster police action in cases of sexual abuse under professional authority.
