A shocking case in Bengaluru has taken a disturbing turn after police ruled out accidental death. A 34-year-old techie, earlier believed to have died from suffocation after a short circuit, was allegedly murdered by a teenager, officials said.
The woman lived in Ramurthy Nagar with her live-in partner, who had gone to his native place for holidays. Initial reports claimed a short circuit caused a fire. Neighbours broke open the door after noticing smoke and found her dead.
Police found the situation suspicious and began a deeper probe. During interrogation, they arrested an 18-year-old neighbour, identified as Karnal Kurai. Investigators said he attempted to sexually assault the woman and killed her when she resisted.
According to police, the incident happened on January 3 night around 9 pm. The accused allegedly pressed her face down, causing her to lose consciousness. Before fleeing, he burnt her clothes, took her phone, and left the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
