India’s e-commerce festive sales promise big savings, but buyers often face risks. The latest Flipkart Big Billion Days sale showed this clearly, as iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro deals attracted huge demand, raising hopes of major discounts.
Many buyers completed transactions successfully, only to have their orders cancelled abruptly. Reports of “payment failures” seemed unreliable since banks had confirmed payments. Customers felt the offers were never intended to be fulfilled at scale.
Some Flipkart Plus members received their devices, but most faced cancellations and delayed refunds. This uneven treatment created frustration and suspicion among users, highlighting how large-scale sales can sometimes fail to meet basic delivery expectations.
Flipkart’s silence on the matter worsened customer concerns. Users questioned whether the company temporarily held funds to manage cash flow, which has further weakened trust in the platform’s festive sales.
Unless Flipkart addresses these issues transparently and resolves complaints quickly, this episode may serve as a warning for shoppers: deals that seem too good to be true can come at the cost of trust.
