Vietnam is a popular tourist destination for Indians, offering budget-friendly options and beautiful sights. Many Indians contribute to the local tourism industry. However, negative incidents can overshadow these contributions when citizens behave poorly abroad.
A recent viral video showed an Indian couple with their baby caught stealing from a street vendor in Vietnam. They pretended to browse the items and, when the vendor looked away, took merchandise and placed it in their bags.
The couple repeated the act, unaware that cameras were recording them. The footage quickly spread online, drawing criticism and outrage from social media users across India and beyond.
Many online users questioned the values being taught to the child and condemned the couple’s behaviour as shameful. While such incidents are rare, they can unfairly reflect on the nation’s image abroad.
This incident highlights the importance of responsible behaviour while travelling. Tourists are not just visitors but also representatives of their country, and maintaining decorum abroad is essential.
“I had heard about Indian tourists, now saw them”
These were the words of the Vietnamese vendor from whom an Indian couple stole not once but twice, all this while holding a baby with them.
The video has now gone viral in Vietnam and of course India.
