For the past ten years, Ratnamma has been cooking without using any LPG cylinder. An old well in her house releases natural gas continuously, which she uses for her daily needs.
She has set up a simple pipe system to collect the gas from the well. This gas is then connected directly to her stove. The arrangement allows her to cook without relying on conventional fuel.
Experts believe the gas could be methane. It is usually formed when organic matter decomposes underground over time. However, such natural gas sources are rare and not commonly found.
This method cannot be applied everywhere. It depends on specific environmental and geological conditions. Not every household can replicate such a setup.
A safer and more practical option is a biogas system. It is already being used in many rural areas and offers a controlled way to produce gas for cooking.
