A disturbing incident from Gaya in Bihar has left the police department in shock. Sub Inspector Anuj Kashyap, who was posted in the SSP Media Cell, died by suicide, and allegations have emerged against his colleague, Sub Inspector Sweety Kumari, who has been taken into police custody.
Anuj’s father, Bhavnath Mishra, has accused Sweety Kumari of constantly harassing his son. He claims she pressured Anuj to divorce his wife and marry her, creating emotional turmoil in his personal life. According to him, Sweety repeatedly told Anuj to “leave your wife and marry me,” and this unrelenting pressure drove him to take the extreme step.
Mishra has directly blamed Sweety for instigating the suicide, stating that if she had not interfered, his son would still be alive. The matter has sparked serious discussions on workplace harassment within the police force, where personal disputes spilling over into professional spaces can have dangerous consequences.
Police authorities have assured that the investigation will be conducted in a fair and transparent manner, examining all available evidence, including messages and witness accounts. Meanwhile, experts are highlighting the urgent need for stronger internal mechanisms to address such disputes before they escalate.
The case has also drawn attention to the mental health challenges faced by police personnel. For now, the grieving family awaits justice, hoping the truth will be uncovered and action will be taken without delay.
