Pregnancy Loss, ₹10 Crores Blackmail: Police Stunned

Mumbai police blackmail case arrest

Mumbai Police have arrested two women for allegedly attempting to extort money from a construction businessman. The case involves trapping his son in what police say was a false complaint. Investigators were reportedly shocked by the seriousness of the allegations and the scale of the demand.

The incident took place on November 15 at a hotel. The businessman’s 25 year old son was returning from an engagement celebration with his fiancée and friends. Inside a lift, a woman accused him of shining a laser light at her, leading to a brief argument and minor scuffle.

After reaching the ground floor, the woman raised an alarm. Hotel bouncers then attacked the young man and his friends. The situation escalated quickly, drawing attention and creating confusion at the property.

Later, the woman filed a serious complaint and claimed she lost her pregnancy due to the incident. Police arrested the young man, as men are often the first to be suspected in such cases. The arrest was made before deeper verification.

Such allegations are rarely questioned in the initial stages. Public sympathy usually favours the woman at first. In this case, the young man’s father acted cautiously and recorded conversations that later proved crucial for investigators.

According to police, the women demanded up to Rs10 crore to settle the matter and threatened severe legal consequences. They were eventually caught while allegedly accepting Rs1.5 crore. The arrests followed a planned operation by Mumbai Police.

The case highlights how alert and sensible action can help prevent misuse of the law. It also underlines the importance of proper investigation before drawing conclusions in sensitive cases.
