The murder took place during a religious ceremony at their home. In the middle of the puja, Deepak suddenly collapsed. Shivani claimed he had suffered a heart attack, and his family, unaware of the truth, believed her.

The suspected motive adds another disturbing layer. Deepak held a government job, and his family believes Shivani murdered him to become eligible for his position.
Under government rules, a spouse can often be considered for a deceased employee’s job on compassionate grounds. Police are also looking into whether Shivani had any financial or personal relationships that influenced her decision.

The murder was carefully timed and disguised. Killing Deepak during a puja allowed Shivani to divert attention and gain the sympathy of those around her. The calmness with which she handled the situation immediately after the murder shows a level of planning that goes beyond a spontaneous act.
Deepak’s family, devastated by the betrayal, has demanded the harshest punishment for Shivani.
What makes this case particularly chilling is not just the act itself, but the cold and calculated manner in which it was carried out under the façade of devotion and tradition.
