A student from IIT Bombay has set a new benchmark in campus placements by securing a whopping 3.7 crore annual package from a US-based company. The offer is the highest ever international offer received by any IIT student in the history of placements. The name of the company and the student have not been disclosed yet.
The engineering and technology sector emerged as the top recruiter at IIT Bombay, followed by the IT and software sector. The average salary offered to the students was 21.8 lakh per annum, slightly higher than last year. The institute also witnessed a surge in international offers, with 65 students getting offers from countries like the US, Japan, the UK, the Netherlands, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
The record-breaking placement season at IIT Bombay reflects the high demand for tech talent across various sectors and geographies. It also showcases the quality and excellence of the students and faculty at the premier institute. However, it also raises some concerns about the brain drain phenomenon, where talented Indians leave the country for higher education and earnings.
While studying and working abroad can provide many opportunities and benefits for individuals and society, it can also have some negative impacts on the country’s development and innovation. Therefore, it is important to create a conducive environment for retaining and attracting talent within India, as well as fostering collaboration and exchange with other countries.
