A disturbing incident at a government polytechnic college in Ismailkhanpet, Sangareddy, has caused widespread anger. A watchman arrived on campus in a drunken state and lay down in the kitchen with his foot inside a vessel of cooked rice.
People were shocked because a college is expected to be clean and safe. Food prepared for students should always be handled with care, and many noted that food is considered holy. Here, the rice was disrespected in the worst possible way.
The most worrying part was that this rice was later served to students. Parents and local residents felt deeply upset, saying children should never be exposed to such unhygienic and unsafe conditions.
The district collector acted immediately and removed the watchman from duty. Officials also said strict action would follow to prevent such behaviour in the future. The incident has sparked a demand for better oversight in educational institutions.
