A viral Instagram video showing a Rohu fish being forced to drink beer has sparked outrage over the internet. However, as of now, no real action has been taken against the man responsible.
The video shows the man gripping the fish and tilting a beer bottle towards its mouth, making it appear as though the fish is consuming alcohol. While some viewers found it amusing, many others condemned it as animal cruelty.

Social media quickly erupted with criticism, with users tagging PETA and demanding intervention. Despite the uproar, there has been no confirmation of any legal action.
This raises a troubling question: why is animal abuse often dismissed when it involves fish or aquatic animals? If this had been a cat or a dog, authorities and animal rights groups would have acted immediately.

Alcohol negatively affects fish, causing disorientation and potential toxicity. The act of forcing a living creature to ingest beer for entertainment is not just unethical but outright cruel.
Yet, in this case, the person behind it continues to roam free, much like in other cases where animal abuse goes unpunished.

Such selective outrage reserved for dogs, cats and cattle and lax enforcement of animal cruelty laws lead to many such cases. Public reaction is often swift on social media, but without real consequences and intervention, such acts will continue. If authorities fail to take action, it sends a dangerous message that harming animals for ‘fun’ is acceptable.
