A disturbing incident on a Chennai to Hyderabad flight has shocked passengers and raised concerns about in-flight safety. A 38-year-old woman IT professional was allegedly molested by a co-passenger during the journey on Friday.
The accused, a man in his mid-40s from Chennai, was arrested by RGIA police after the woman lodged a complaint soon after landing in Hyderabad.
Police said the woman was travelling with her husband when the drunk passenger sitting beside them misbehaved. As the flight was about to land, she suddenly felt someone touch her inappropriately. She saw the man’s hand, shouted for help, and immediately informed her husband and the cabin crew.
Once the flight landed, the woman filed a detailed complaint at the RGIA Police Station. A case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for outraging a woman’s modesty.
The accused claimed the act was accidental, but police are verifying his statement. Officials are collecting witness and cabin crew testimonies to establish the sequence of events. The investigation is ongoing.
