The complaint was filed on June 23 by a medical student from Karnataka and her mother at Mogra Police Station in Hooghly.

The woman alleged that Porel established a sexual relationship with her after promising to marry her and later subjected her to assault and criminal intimidation.

According to reports, the woman claimed that she and Porel had been in a relationship for around three years and had also travelled abroad together.

She alleged that their relationship changed around one and a half years ago, after which Porel started distancing himself from her.

The woman further alleged that Abishek Porel continued to promise marriage but later refused to marry her.

Police began investigating the complaint and reportedly visited Abishek Porel’s house in Chandannagar several times. Despite, they could not find him.

Abishek Porel was in Bengaluru when the complaint was filed and has denied the allegations. He said that he was playing well and suggested that the allegations were coming up for that reason.

He also said that he had not been contacted by police at that stage and would respond after the investigation.

Abishek Porel has represented Bengal and Delhi Capitals in the IPL and remains one of the young domestic cricketers in India’s system.

The investigation is ongoing, and the allegations against Porel have not been established in court. Further developments are expected after his court appearance and the police investigation.
