Ashwin Drops Bombshell: MI Fix Matches?

Ashwin Drops Bombshell: Mumbai Indians Fix Matches

Ravichandran Ashwin has kicked up a storm after making serious allegations against Mumbai Indians.

After MI’s 20-run win over Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2025 Eliminator, Ashwin pointed fingers at the five-time champions, hinting at match-fixing.

Ashwin who played for Chennai Super Kings this season, referred to an old match from 2018 when he was leading Punjab Kings. In that match against MI, Ashwin recalled something strange.

According to him, MI were 80 for 5 after 13 overs and were struggling badly. But then the floodlights went off and the match was paused for nearly 20 minutes.

“When the lights came back, suddenly MI turned the game around,” said Ashwin. “Kieron Pollard played an unbelievable knock and they ended up scoring 200.”

He didn’t directly accuse anyone of wrongdoing but strongly hinted at something unusual.

“I’ve always seen this kind of luck with MI. I don’t know how it happens. The lights go out, they get a break and come back stronger. We need to find that kind of luck.”

Ashwin himself had a forgettable season with CSK in 2025. Bought for ₹9.75 crore, the veteran off-spinner managed just 7 wickets in 9 games.

His economy rate crossed 9 and his average was over 40. To make things worse, CSK finished at the bottom of the table for the first time in IPL history.

His comments after the Eliminator quickly went viral with fans divided on whether he was being honest or just bitter.

While the controversy took center stage, MI’s performance against GT also caught attention.

Batting first, MI posted a strong total of 228 for 5. Rohit Sharma was the star with 81 runs off 50 balls, hitting 9 fours and 4 sixes.

GT’s bowlers struggled, though Sai Kishore and Prasidh Krishna picked up two wickets each.

In reply, GT’s chase never really settled. Trent Boult dismissed captain Shubman Gill in the first over.

Kusal Mendis scored 20 quick runs but was dismissed hit-wicket. Washington Sundar and Sai Sudharsan tried to steady things with an 84-run partnership.

But Bumrah struck in the 14th over to remove Sundar. Sudharsan fought hard for his 80 but once he went, GT couldn’t keep up. They finished at 208 for 6, 20 runs short.

Ashwin’s comments have now taken over the headlines. Fans and experts are debating whether he is right or just bitter.

Either way, Ashwin has made news and his comments will continue to be talked about as IPL 2025 goes on.
