Win Trophies, Not Likes? Gambhir’s Brutal Reply to Haters

Gautam Gambhir backs India's Test team

India’s Test transition has already started showing results, but Gautam Gambhir believes the team should not be judged too quickly.

My job is to win trophies, not views and likes. That’s all what I care for, Gambhir said.

India are currently going through a major transition in Test cricket following the retirements of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin.

Shubman Gill is now leading the side, while Devdutt Padikkal has taken his chance at No. 3. Devdutt Padikkal scored 167 in the first innings and 44 in the second in the Galle Test.

Manav Suthar was another big positive for India after taking 10 wickets in the match.

India won the Galle Test by 165 runs and lead the two match series 1-0. Gambhir said the team will have ups and downs during this transition and the players need to be backed for a longer period.

There will be ups and downs in cricket, and we need to back our players and give them longer rope, he said.

India will now look to finish the Sri Lanka series with another win in Colombo.
